AEFD63A

Sura’s cameraman Ekambaram has said that the film has come out very well. According to him, several scenes in Sura involved risky shots and it was possible to picturise it as the unit was very cooperative.

Ekambaram reveals that one of the fight sequences, which were shot in the high seas in Tuticorin at 2 am, will be the highlight of the film. This fight was choreographed by Kanal Kannan and has stuntmen from Bangkok. Ekambaram says that he has used high speed camera considering the risks involved in shooting in the seas.

The opening song has been picturised in a scenic location in Dhanushkodi, he adds.

Tamannaah is one of the busiest actresses these days in Tamil cinema

-tamann

Tamannaah the top heroine of Tamil cinema is one of the busiest actresses these days. She is shooting round the clock and her line up of films looks impressive. The actress who is in Chennai shooting for the last song of Thillalangadi is all excited about the release of Paiyya and her forthcoming films..Excerpts of an exclusive chat

Heard that you got hurt on the sets of Thillalangadi?
I sprained my left ankle while shooting for a song. We applied some balm and I continued to shoot. It’s nothing serious (smiles). The song is shaping out well and Shobi master is doing a wonderful job. With this song, the film is complete.

What are your next films?
Paiyya has been confirmed for April 2 release. I am looking forward to the response as it will be an entertaining film. Sura will be my next release probably by mid-April followed by Thillalangadi.

Any new projects that you have signed?
I am starting Karthi’s next film, in April in which he is doing double role, a remake of Vikramarkudu from Telugu. I have also signed up a film with Naga Chaitanya for director Sukumar and an Allu Arjun film directed by VV Vinayak in Telugu. By August I am doing Hari sir’s film with Dhanush in the lead and its our second film after Padikkathavan.

So you are the busiest actress in south today and all top heroes are repeating you in their films. Please comment.
(Laughs)Thanks to God. And pairing with top heroes purely depends on the box-office success of your previous films. I am looking forward to doing my second film with Dhanush and Karthi.

Movie Review: Tamannaah Bhatia's Paiyaa

Paiya

Film: “Paiyaa”; Cast: Karthi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Milind Soman, Sonia Deepti; Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja; Director: N. Linguswamy; Cinematographer: Madhi; Editor: Antony; Rating: **

As is the norm with so-called youthful movies, “Paiyaa” hero Shiva, played by Karthi who is seen for the first time on screen with a costume that is not dirty, is jobless but couldn’t care less. He is full of fun and enjoys life. Shiva meets a beautiful girl Charulatha (Tamannaah) and instantly falls for her. Shiva’s successive coincidental meetings with the girl increases his passion for her.

Shiva finds out that Charulatha’s life is in danger. He pledges to save her from the clutches of the goons hired by her stepmother.

The twist in the tale is that Shiva too is in danger. A Mumbai gang guns for him on account of previous enmity. Shiva, thanks to some tiring stunt sequences, finally manages to save the girl and himself.

For most part for the film, the script travels in cars and this is the only difference between “Paiyaa” and other such movies. Otherwise it is predictable and hardly exciting. The hero saving a girl from the clutches of a villain gang with his muscle power is nothing new to Tamil cinema. In fact, we are witnessing such stories almost every week.

It is quite sad that a director like Linguswamy with proven record of making interesting commercial movies like “Run” and “Sandakozhi” has made such a damp squib.

The interesting aspect in the whole film is that Siva does not express his love to his girl believing that true love would express itself. Ironically, the girl doesn’t understand his feeling throughout the movie.

Since the entire problem is solved with the power of muscles, there is no work left for the script writer indeed. Tamaanaah’s generous skin show, especially in the rain song, and the joyful attitude of Shiva are there for the director to drag the film for 150 minutes.

In addition to this there is Yuvan’s music and Madhi’s excellent camera work that help the proceedings.

In his modern avatar Karthi looks smart and charming, but he does not get any scope to act and hence there is not much to write about his acting.

Tamannaah is given little scope to display her acting credentials. Linguswamy has wasted Milind Soman.

The highlights of the film are music, cinematography, and Antony’s editing.

“Paiyaa” is a disappointing show, as Linguswamy has restored to cliched script rather than providing something new. The movie looks sleek, thanks to the high technical values but fares poor in substance with insipid story and script.

The latest to join on Paal Abhishegam bandwagon is Tamannah

Paiya

Fans and movie buffs in Tamil Nadu have been doing Paal Abhishegam to the cut-outs of their favorite film stars since a very long time. Many top heroes, including Rajinikanth’s cut-outs, did not escape this practice during their film’s release.

The latest to join this bandwagon is Tamannah. The fans in Tuticorin inaugurated the All India Thanga Padhumai Tamannah Fans’ Club and performed the Paal Abhishegam on 50-feet Tamannah cut-out during the release of Paiyaa. This was brought to the notice of the actress, who condemned such action.

Tamannah said that she is not aware of the fans club and will not support such actions. The actress maintained that only Gods should be worshipped in this manner and this practice must be denounced.

Tamannahs 'Paiyaa' is all set to become a blockbuster

paiyaa

Declared already as a hit, collection reports of Lingusamy’s ’Paiyaa’ suggest the film is all set to become a blockbuster. Ever since the Karthi-Tamannah starrer hit screens Friday last, it has been running packed houses all over Tamil Nadu, theatre sources say.

Rave reviews from the media and aggressive marketing strategies by Dhayanidhi Alagiri, who had acquired the release rights, have been drawing crowds to cinema halls screening ’Paiyaa’, we learn.

"Expectations of those who come to theatres are thoroughly fulfilled by Lingusamy and his team. Most of the scenes are received by the audience with huge applause," say sources.

"Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is no doubt an asset to the film," they say and add: "Youngsters are seen dancing for most of the numbers with Adadada Mazhada topping the list."

Tamannah's second innings in Tamil cinema has made her the numero uno actress

tamanna

Her second innings in Tamil cinema has made her the numero uno actress of Kollywood. “Having tasted both success and failure in my career, I know how to go about my work. And I enjoy doing it”, says Tamannah who’s happy that her recent films have done well at the box office.

While everyone attributes their success to hard work and dedication, the petite beauty says, “I am lucky. Fortune has come calling and it has helped me be where I am today”. The girl from Mumbai had a jinxed start early on in her career when she made her debut in Kollywood with ‘Kedi’. However she overcame all odds with a spirited performance in ‘Kalloori’. The success of her Telugu film ‘Happy Days’ propelled her career. “I consider myself blessed to have made it big. There are umpteen number of actresses who work hard but success has been eluding them. I am fortunate,” she says.

The actress has a number of forthcoming releases. “I play an interesting role in ‘Paiyaa’.

The moment director Lingusamy narrated the story to me, I fell in love with it. Vijay’s ‘Sura’ features me in an interesting role. Rarely does an actress come across a role like the one I am doing opposite Jayam Ravi in ‘Thillalangadi’.” Looks like luck is favouring the beauty like never before. Rock on!
