The milk white glamour queen of Tollywood Tamanna , is now a busy star in Kollywood. She becomes very popular with her very first super hit film ‘Kadhen Kadhalai.’ Her next film ‘Tillalanagadi’ a remake of super hit Telugu film ‘Kick’ is ready for release, and two more films are also near completion.
The success of Telugu film ‘Kick’ gives a firm assurance for the success of her next film ‘Killalangadi.’ She already declared that she won’t hesitate for skin shows, and assured that the glamorous role played by Ileana in Telugu version ‘Kick’ will be presented with much more glamour in her very own style feasting the eyes of Tamil audiances.
The other two films which are in post production stage now are also releasing in big banners, assuring success for her. If, all these three films become super hit, then Nayantara , Trisha and others has to confine to Tollywood or Bollywood, as Tamanna is going to occupy the No:1 position in Kollywood.
What makes Tamanna the most happening actress!
A people-based strategy says that, to be successful in any venture, you need to have a superior work force and capture all the knowledge and skills of these folks. Director K.V.Anand’s next flick ’KO’ brings together writer-duo Suba, Harris Jayaraj, Silambarasan and Tamanna. This winning combination itself reveals beforehand that the film is going to be a big hit! Even if you are a stranger to films, you can bet safely on this combination.
K.V.Anand was closely associated with novelist-duo Suba while he was a freelance photo journalist. After working with P.C.Sriram and top notch directors in Indian Cinema, Anand debuted as Director in ‘Kana Kanden’, which was penned by novelist-duo Suba received good reviews from the media and public. His second venture Ayan, starring Surya and Tamanna, turned out to be a blockbuster realizing box office collections surpassing to that of Sivaji and Dasavatharam.
Anand’s next flick titled ’KO’, means King in Tamil, would be an out-and-out commercial entertainer on the lines of his earlier film ’Ayan’. An unconfirmed news say that Anand earlier approached a famous upcoming actor (‘Paruthiveeran’ Karthi?) for ‘KO’ but later rejected him as he suggested some changes in the story line. As the story needed a young face, Anand later approached Silambarasan. Simbu immediately signed the film and allocated call sheets unconditionally postponing all his previous commitments. Anand has not denied or confirmed this news.
On the pursuit of finalizing female lead for ‘KO’, Anand and Simbu considered several leading heroines but finally booked ‘Sweet Cutesy’ Tamanna as she is young and also capable of delivering emotions more than expected by the director. After a streak of 3 successes Padikkathavan, Ayan and Kanden Kadhalai in 2009, she is busy with Paiya, Thillalangadi and Sura with top heroes. But Tamanna signed ‘KO’ adjusting her call sheets. This sensibility is what makes Tamanna the most happening actress!
Tamannah becomes Top 5 actresses of Kollywood in 2009
A complete year of surprises as most of the actresses struck with glory in their second innings. Nayanthara and Trisha had a very disappointing year as their films flunked terribly at box office and fetched worst reviews for them.
Anushka: She made her debut with ‘Rendu’ that didn’t gain her more appreciations. But her comeback just swayed us out with ‘Arundhathi’ while she had to get herself in vain with Vijay’s ‘Vettaikaran’. She has got one more big ticket ‘Singam’ with Surya and she is already in favorite lists of directors and producers.
Tamannah: The slim beauty had the success knocking her doors continuously throughout the year. Padikadhavan, Kanden Kadhalai, Ayan and she won some good reviews for the underrated film ‘Anandha Thandavam’.
Saranya Mohan: This 20-year old girl has come up with pleasing works in ‘Vennila Kabadi Kulu’ and ‘Eeram’. Her Telugu film ‘Village Lo Vinayakudu’ was a great hit. Though she has been a part of film industry for past 12 years, she stepped onto the epitome of actress with these films.
Pooja: She was actually not interested in acting and just appeared for the sake of glamour. But ‘Naan Kadavul’ turned off her intentions as she excelled from the school of Bala. Pooja is sure to win the laurels and awards.
Sindhu Menon: After making her debut with Bharathiraja’s ‘Kadal Pookal’, she was away from Kollywood. But she was back with a bang with ‘Eeram’, a film that was completely based on her.
Tamanna has been replaced by Karthika in new film Ko

The latest buzz is that Radha’s daughter Karthika has entered in the crew and replaced Tamanna. But the reason is unknown.
Karthika was first introduced in the Telugu film Josh opposite Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya. But her fortunes did not rise and all her hopes now would be on Ko.
But now Radha and her daughter Karthika are very much pleased with the developments in their effort to get a right chance in Kollywood.
Tamannaah is shooting for Sura in Pondicherry from today
Ilayathalapathy Vijay is shooting for his 50th film Sura in Pondicherry from today.
Some crucial action scenes and a few talkie portion of the film will be shot there. A huge set has been put up in Pondy for the shoot of the film.
Tamannaah will also be a part of this five day shoot. The director of the film is SP Rajkumar, who has done Alagar Malai earlier.
According to sources close to the unit: “Sura is a typical mass masala Vijay film which will be a treat to his fans. He wants to give something back to his fans worldwide who have been extremely nice to him and encouraged him all the time.”
The action scenes in the film are going to be one of its highlights. Vijay after watching the Telugu blockbuster Maghadheera, was impressed by its villain Dev Gill. The Punjabi lad Dev with no filmi connections is playing the politician villain in Sura.
Sun Pictures who has acquired the marketing rights of the film is planning to release it big this summer. Sura is sure going to rock!
Tamannaah worked to her advantage in a series of films
Tamannaah, 2009’s most-popular heroine, still has a girl-next-door image which has worked to her advantage in a series of films and helped her strike gold at the box-office. A lot of hope was riding on Anushka, but she failed to impress with Vettaikaran in which she had an itsy-bitsy role and looked too tall even with Vijay, who is relatively taller than most heroes in Kollywood.
Yes, size does matter in Kollywood, and heroines have to be small built and look shorter than our heroes, most of whom who are less than six feet. , “A heroine in a Tamil film has to be petite, and at the same time, look glamorous and have terrific screen presence, says director Vishnuvardhan who made Nayanthara sizzle in Billa”
Styling and grooming have become an important part of the making of a glamorous heroine. Says a leading fashion designer in Chennai, “Recently, a hitherto Plain Jane heroine, who went in for a glamorous look, looked so uncomfortable wearing the mod clothes to the extent of seeming embarrassed and apologetic. The crucial factor is whether they have the right attitude and élan to carry off revealing costumes on screen.”
Some of the new girls who are trying to get into the ‘hot-and-sultry’ category in the 2010 are Ileana, Neetu Chandra, Kajal Aggarwal, Hansika Motwani, and the lone girl from south, Poorna. The producers of director Vikram Kumar’s new film 24, which has Vikram in the lead, reportedly paid its heroine Ileana a bomb to do the film. 24 is a futuristic science fiction film and the latest we hear is that Ileana is getting the best costumer and hair dresser from Mumbai to give her the ‘ultra chic’ look.
Meanwhile, Vishal has spent a fortune to make his heroines - Neetu Chandra, Sarah Jane and Tanushree Datta -look super glam for his Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai. Bollywood’s top choreographers, Bosco-Caesar have choreographed the hit song in the film, which features all the three heroines. This song and the glam look of the film have created such a stir in the trade that the film’s rights have now been snapped up by the market leaders in distribution. Kajal Aggarwal, who rocked in her Telugu blockbuster Maghadheera, is pinning a lot of hope on her glam look in Susindran’s Naan Mahaan Alla, in which she has Karthi as her hero.
And those who saw the stills of debutant Sudha Kongara’s Drogi swear that Poorna, the Asin look-alike, is going to be the next big glamour girl in Kollywood. Hansika Motwani, who is debuting opposite Dhanush in Maapilai, sums it up best. “I have taken extra care to look glamorous in Maapillai, which is my first film in Tamil,” she says emphasizing the need for new heroines to project a sizzling look. Well, it looks like these new glam girls are all set to rock Kollywood and make 2010 their own!
